Cuts and Protrusions...

Sometimes it is easier to get rid of features by adding new ones. A single Cut or Protrusion feature may be used to eliminate many other features without the problems often found with the Simplified Rep or Suppression methods such as parent/child relations, patterns, etc... In the following example the rounds in the pockets were part of the original sketch of the pocket. To suppress just the round would require redefining the sketch. A single Cut feature eliminates this problem.

A protrusion may be used the same way. In this case the counter bore was made as part of the hole. The holes may also be a pattern or mirror copy from some other place in the model. Using a protrusion you can fill in the counter bore as desired without worrying about their relationship to everything else.
