Simplified Reps may be used to hide features or parts of an assembly without actually removing them from the model. They are a usually a better option than Feature Suppression because they are not limited by Parent/Child relations and they preserve the integrity of the model. You may turn Simplified Reps on and off without making any other changes to the model.
Simplified Reps can make it a little more tedious to add features or modify assemblies. You sometimes need to go back to the Master Rep or even the Part Mode to make a change.
You also need to be more careful when changing Simplified Reps and transferring between Standard and Mechanica Modes. Sometimes Pro/MECHANICA data can get lost.
